Wouldn’t that be nice? Look at the title again.  To obtain an ASA designation we must have 5 years of experience and nowadays more likely a college degree. Say then the earliest to achieve an ASA designation is age 25. Then add 40 years of ASA dues and work experience to get to age 65 and many retire. Yes, some go on to 70 or even a bit more. But these 40 years as an ASA should qualify this very senior appraiser for free memberships. Also, I suggest these persons have the right to audit any classes they wish, with the hope that they will offer perhaps in-class contributions of their wisdom, or post class contributory observations to enhance / improve the teaching and student experience. Lastly, these folks should be assigned mentoring responsibilities.  Give these ASA’s the honor they deserve by this measure of appreciation. It’s the right thing to do. PS. Note that I am not suggesting just being a dues-paying member of ASA warrants free dues after 40 years, but am saying designated ASA’s should be offered this reward.
